2023 5k Somerville Animal Hospital - Dr. W Gets Chicked wide

Clash of the Titans at High Cotton 5k on Saturday, September 9th

Run with the Big Dogs of Somerville Animal Hospital

“A little part of me might die if she beats me,” says Somerville Animal Hospital’s Glenn Weatherly, DVM. Dr. Weatherly, an avid runner, 15-year Fayette Cares charity race sponsor and founding race volunteer, is training for the Fayette Cares High Cotton 5k on Saturday, September 9th. His assistant, Sarah Inman, is in his crosshairs.

Dr. Weatherly and Sarah are both champions of the High Cotton 5k, having won not only in their age and gender categories but also as overall race winners in various years of competition. The competitive titans will square off this year to determine the office champion. “I can’t wait to “chick” him,” says Sarah, who wants the distinction of being a female that outpaces her male competitor. “Beating my boss would be great! But I’m really running so that kids aren’t homeless or hungry, and no one has to choose between living with abuse or living on the streets.”

The charity race directly supports the Fayette Cares homeless shelter, emergency food pantry, domestic violence intervention services, and other programs for those in need. Sponsors like Somerville Animal Hospital, Somerville First United Methodist Church, Fayette County Chamber of Commerce, Mercedes-Benz of Collierville, and The Fayette Falcon, support the mission and encourage the community to participate in the 5k race or 1k fun run.

The event is a full day of fun with post-race festivities at the Fayette County Chamber Cotton Festival, including live music, a car/truck show, shopping, food, and more.

Discounted registration is $30 for adults and $15 for children (available until August 21).
