2008 Hunger Relief Challenge Totals
With astonishing community support Fayette Cares has received nearly $24,000 in cash donations for the 2008 Hunger Relief Challenge. The money raised will help fund the Fayette Cares food pantry, providing hundreds with emergency relief.
Fayette Cares is grateful for generosity from longtime donors and growing involvement from new community members. To show support for the charitable cause businesses challenged each other to make monetary contributions, schools sponsored fundraising events, gyms waived membership fees in exchange for canned goods, community organizations collected donations at monthly meetings, churches passed the collection plate, and individual donors sent monetary gifts.
Volunteers coordinated fundraisers like the highly successful
golf tournament and
plant sale. Businesses sponsored the golf event while growers and local gardeners contributed toward the plant sale generating more than $12,000 toward food pantry services.
Each effort helped bring awareness of the year round need for emergency food aid in the community and raised funds allowing Fayette Cares to serve those in crisis.
Fayette Cares is grateful to all who help unite caring people with those in need of care.
