Fayette Cares’ A Night of Southern Elegance Goes Virtual, Promotes Family Stability

OAKLAND, Tenn., November 20, 2020 – Fayette Cares, a community-supported nonprofit located in Fayette County, Tennessee, today announced the success of its annual A Night of Southern Elegance gala, which was hosted virtually on Saturday, November 7. The event raised over $100,000 in net proceeds to support the organization, which helps individuals and families facing financial crisis, homelessness or domestic violence.

Guests joined from the comfort of their homes with a theme of “Show Us How You Care” to celebrate the strength of the community and help struggling families who need assistance now more than ever.

“This event would not have been possible without our amazing supporters,” said Alexandra Porto, Fayette Cares Executive Director. “At a time when so many are struggling, everyone from our sponsors and volunteers to donors and staff showed our neighbors in need just how much they are cared for. We are incredibly grateful for the funds raised to benefit our critical work.”

Guests attended virtually from across the Mid-South, while Jeff Morris of Morris Realty & Auction served as auctioneer and Leon Griffin as emcee. Celebration boxes with food from Me and My Tea Room Catering, wine, beer, and gifts were delivered to all attendees, and party hosts also received flower arrangements from Hometowne Flowers. Event participants engaged in a raffle, and individuals and fundraising teams competed to raise money for the organization’s Fund-a-Need campaign, for which proceeds went directly to repair the shelter. House of Faith Ministries was the top fundraiser of the evening.

Hundreds of donors, sponsors and volunteers made valuable contributions prior to, during and after the event, to instill hope through the efforts of Fayette Cares. Caring sponsors included Ring Companies, The Lilly Company, Mahaffey Event & Tent Rentals, Central Distributors, Inc., Rae Creative, Kroger, Hometowne Flowers & Gifts, G & G Auto Repair, Dave & Kathy Liebetreu, Allied Termite & Pest Control, Konica Minolta, and many others.

About Fayette Cares

Since 1986, Fayette Cares has served the community by empowering those in need with hope, independence and lasting solutions. The organization began by providing services to help break the cycle of poverty. Starting with a food pantry, clothing store and classes to build life skills, Fayette Cares focused on offering services that would empower clients to overcome their circumstances, nurture their skills and build a life beyond poverty. The agency has since grown to include comprehensive and holistic services to help homeless families become self-sufficient, aid those trapped in violent homes to find their way out, and support clients in financial crisis as they rebuild on solid ground.
