Dump trucks full of wet paper and glue are not what typically comes to mind when you think of an elegant gala. But Fayette Cares volunteers and airport staff are partnering to transform the Fayette County Airport for the big event on November 6th, A Night of Southern Elegance – Destination Fayette Cares.
No stranger to venue transformations, Fayette Cares volunteers have turned unconventional locations, like manufacturing warehouses and a working barn, into breathtaking affairs that leave event guests raving. “But this is a herculean task,” says Rusty Bliss, Director of the Fayette County Airport, as he describes the work Fayette Cares volunteers are undertaking, spending hundreds of hours pressure washing and cleaning to remove deteriorated insulation from the hangars where the gala will be held. “This sorely needed facelift is a Fayette Cares contribution to the County that will help showcase what a gem our airport really is.” Bliss estimates the value of this effort to be in excess of $10,000 and knows it will not only create a jaw-dropping gala for Fayette Cares but will benefit the airport facility for years to come.
The event is much more than an elegant party with fine dining and dancing; it’s known for an extraordinary auction. With trips like a fabulous Hilton Head adventure and guided trophy hunts, or exquisite jewelry and parties, guests bid on superb experiences and items – all for a great cause.
Auction donations are provided by caring supporters who share their personal and professional resources to make a philanthropic gift. A Gulf Shores condo, deep sea fishing boat or duck hunting outfitter can be life changing contributions when donated to the Fayette Cares auction.
Sponsorships are another important way to fund the critical mission of ending homelessness, breaking the cycle of domestic violence, and creating stability from crisis.
