Golf Tournament Another Hole-in-One

After a record-breaking golf tournament in 2022, the Fayette Cares team didn’t think it could get any better.  They were wrong!  In its 17th year, on Cinco de Mayo, the Fayette Cares charity golf tournament sponsored by Ring Container Technologies set a new record for registration and sponsorships.  This fiesta on the fairways featured colorful banners, tacos and nachos, festive music and, of course, great golf.

Golfers enjoyed gifts and prizes, including rounds of golf, golf bags, and golf gear.  Sinking a 60’ putt were Freddie Clifft and Chris Cook whose accuracy won them each a 50’ flat-screen TV sponsored by Schrader Orthopedic & Stem Cell Treatment Center and Longtown Gin.

Thanks to the generosity of Kevin Williams, a golf simulator was introduced to the event for a Virtual Long Drive Challenge.  Golfers drove the ball into a high-tech computerized golf system, then watched the big screen for direction and distance results in competition for a Mid-South Golf Card.  Sending the ball screaming were winners Ryan Matheny 324 yd, Jesse Liebeit 308.5 yd, Cole Kirkland 293 yd, and Diane Alridge 164.5 yd.

Closest to the Pin competitions sponsored by Michelob Ultra, Knights of Columbus, Re/Max Experts Ginny Tibbles and Lola Putt, and Solace Services hailed the following winners: Chandler Matthew, Brandon Grimes, Jason Sells, Ethan Bryant, and Kevin McCaleb.

Events sponsored by C2 Consultants celebrated the following winners: Longest Putt –  Taylor Pfohl, Longest Drive Ladies – Monica Zanone, Longest Drive Men (54 & Under) – John Murk Fisher, Longest Drive Men (55-69) – Jeff Navarre, Longest Drive Men (70-79) – Steve Boyd, and Longest Drive Men (80+) – Bob Taber.

Sweeping the tournament in first place was the David Pike Party (-19), with Team Sells in second place (-17) and C2 Consultants in third place (-16).

Golfers, tournament sponsors, donors, and volunteers showed support to sustain the meaningful work of Fayette Cares. Sponsors included:  Title Sponsor Ring Container Technologies, Gold Sponsors Mercedes-Benz of Collierville and C2 Consultants, Silver Sponsors Fayette Janitorial, Drawing Sponsor State Farm – Dave Trosper, Bronze Sponsors Absolute Comfort Heating and Air Conditioning LLC, The Bank of Fayette County, Guaranty Bank, Michelob Ultra, Rolling Thunder Game Calls, Schrader Orthopedic & Stem Cell Treatment Center, a memorial to Thomas “Zen” Hansen, Venue Host Fair Oaks Golf Club, Super Hole Sponsors Compass Treatment Centers, Event Sponsors The Fayette Falcon, Tri State Printing, Meal and Beverage Sponsors Michelob Ultra, Crow’s Chicken Coop Cafe, Hilltop Wine & Spirits, Impact Payment Partners, St. Philip the Apostle Catholic Church, Gavin & Melinda Van Nieuwenhuyze, with meal support from Main Street Eatery, and Milano’s, as well as many other donors and sponsors.
