For decades Hickory Withe Presbyterian Church has supported the Fayette Cares mission with contributions, supply drives, and volunteers. Church members wanted to learn more about the agency and its life changing work, so the Hickory Withe Presbyterian Women met with Fayette Cares representatives and toured the facilities.
They heard stories of families who fled abuse and found refuge in the shelter, learned about those who lost jobs and were fed with donated food from the emergency pantry, and others who couldn’t pay their rent or utilities that were protected from homelessness by community generosity.
The ladies visited the shelter playground and gardens where homeless families play and find peace. They even brainstormed new and creative partnerships to continue supporting and engaging the community in the meaningful mission.
